The Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral is proud to announce the establishment of Shark-A-Thon, an Annual Fishing Tournament the helps “Take a Bite out of Hunger” supporting Feed The Cape (www.FeedTheCape.com). The event will be held on Saturday, May 21st at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village. The event will kick off Friday night at the Shark-A-Thon Captains Dinner from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at The Westin and will hit the waters Saturday Morning at 7 a.m. for an honest drop for the fishing tournament. More event information can be found at the bottom of the application.Your entry helps to defray the cost of organizing the event and allows us to give more to Feed The Cape.

 

Registration Fees (Please select additional buy-ins on registration form)
Registration per angler:                 $175 Before April 1st, 2016       

                                                     $200 After April 1st, 2016
Boat Additional Buy-ins:                $100/boat for Most Shark Competition (50% of take will be given as award money)
Red Fish Buy-in:                            $25/angler for longest redfish (50% of take will be given as award money)
Mystery Fish Buy-in:                      $25/angler for longest mystery fish (50% of take will be given as award money)

Please remember each team can only have a max of 6 people. The $175/$200 anglers’ fee includes meal at the Captains Dinner, 2 free adult drinks at the Captain’s Dinner, Breakfast snacks Sunday morning at check-in, free boxed lunch during tournament day, food provided at awards ceremony, and event t-shirt. Each boat captain will be provided with “Captain’s Bucket” that will have all measuring tapes, rules & regulations, and all material needed for the photo that will be required for competition.

 

Please see categories and award amounts below. ALL award amounts are based on 80 anglers if amount is not met fishing tournament director will inform anglers at Captain’s Dinner with the new prize amounts. Also additional buy-ins award monies will be 50% of money collected for division. Amounts will be announced at Awards Ceremony. For the Calcutta Auction for hunger all money collected will determine the prize size; see prize breakdowns below.

 

*Please note: This fishing tournament is catch and release. All awards will be based on photo finish, no fish will be judged on site. Anglers will need to take a photo with the fish wearing tournament wristbands, holding measurment tape and have logo'ed paper in picture.Failure to comply with tournaments rules is grounds for immediate disqualfication from tournament without a refund.

Please do not forget to follow these rules to ensure that you do not get disqualified. All anglers on boat MUST have a valid Florida fishing license for area and fish in this tournament. The Captains of all vessels must be present at the Captain’s Dinner, as well as check in their team morning of and sign out their “Captain’s Buckets”. Please make sure you are not under the influence if you are driving the boat. All boat must be up to Florida Watercraft standards. All Florida Fish & Wildlife rules are up held (rules can be found on the Florida Fish & Wildlife website; It is not the responsibility of the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral or any sponsors to review the rules with anglers) Each angler who signs the registration form is acknowledging the above terms and conditions. Any angler can be removed from tournament, venues or areas for any reason at the discretion of the tournament director.
